I’m committing to shopping my closet through the end of the year. Read on to get the full details on this week’s Halloween Capsule Wardrobe.
Spooky season has arrived y’all! And I was so inspired by the changing of the seasons, I decided it was time to give a capsule wardrobe a try.
Starting this week, through the end of the year, I’ll be shopping my own closet and pulling out pieces to build a capsule wardrobe.
It’s a challenge to put together outfits and honestly to want to get dressed when you work from home every day, so this fun outfit challenge is just what I needed to get me out of my, dare-I-say-it, two-year sweatpants and t-shirt rut.
Follow along each week and be inspired to create new outfits from items you already have.
This outfit post is all about my Halloween Capsule Wardrobe for petite plus-size babes.
Halloween Capsule Wardrobe Challenge
What is a Capsule Wardrobe Challenge?
I’m so glad you asked! A capsule wardrobe is an approach to limiting our clothing consumption by shopping our closets first each week, season, or even year.
There are many different ways you can approach a Capsule Wardrobe Challenge. Below are a few examples of capsules you can put together:
- 10×10 Capsule: 10 pieces, 10 outfits, 10 days
- Seasonal Capsules with limited pieces: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer
- 7×7 Capsule: A weekly capsule made up of 7 pieces, 7 outfits, 7 days
- Travel Capsule: This is probably one that most are familiar with because there are only so many items one can fit inside a suitcase!
Why Should I do a Capsule Challenge?
There are many reasons why someone might want to adopt a capsule challenge for their wardrobe.
If you are working to live a more minimal lifestyle, you may be pairing down your life and living with little possessions. A capsule wardrobe is an absolute must when living this way.
You may want to make more sustainable choices and cut back on your consumption of fast fashion. Sustainable fashion is becoming more and more accessible and inclusive each day but it still has a higher price tag than most consumers are used to.
Adopting a capsule wardrobe allows you to limit your spending, save money, shop your own closet and get creative when it comes to your style! This way, in the long run, you’ll have more money to shop for really special items from ethical and sustainable brands you love.
The benefits of a capsule wardrobe really are endless! I hope you’ll be inspired by my weekly challenges to rethink what you already have in your closet and create some new outfits that make you feel like the goddess you are.
7×7 Halloween Challenge
To kick off my first weekly capsule challenge ever, I figured a Halloween-themed capsule was the first place to start and spark my creativity!
I absolutely LOVED putting these looks together and cannot believe I did not do this sooner. So, let’s breakdown what is included in my Spooky Season ready capsule wardrobe this week:
- 7 pieces
- 7 outfits
- 7 days
The 7 Pieces
The selection of these pieces was easy as I wanted to create a spooky, yet badass vibe, so naturally, I stuck with an all-neutral palette.
The 7 pieces I curated from my closet are:
- Black Vegan Leather Moto Jacket
- White Long Sleeve Button Down Top
- Black Slim Cut Jean
- Black Lace Corset
- Cheetah Midi Skirt
- Little Black Dress (I designed and made this one!)
- Black Ankle Boots
I also included a few accessories, which in my opinion don’t necessarily need to be accounted for in a capsule wardrobe because accessories tend to be smaller.
My Halloween Outfit Accessories are:
- Black Felt Wide Brim Hat
- Thrifted Emerald Green Crossbody Mini Purse
- My favorite jewelry items
7 Outfits for 7 Days (+1 Bonus Look!)
Here are the 7 looks I created for this week’s challenge, using only the 7 pieces I listed above and a few accessories!
Since this capsule challenge is Halloween inspired, I just had to create 1 bonus look specifically for Halloween!
This means I was able to build 8 looks with only 7 pieces from my closet. Now, that’s sustainable style without spending a dime!
See any looks you love that you could recreate from items in your closet? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
